The Singer
April 2008

Hi Everyone

It's been way too long since I gave you an update with what's happening with me, so here we go! Of course. I'm very excited about my upcoming trip to Australia. One of my nephews is geting married and my daughter, Sydney and I are flying to Melbourne for the wedding. I haven't been home for eight years and I am looking forward to seeing my family again. Sydney has never met her aunt or uncle and it will be fun to show her where we grew up, where I went to school (briefly) and some of my favorite places there.

We are getting up to speed with touring now, the concerts have been great and the highlight for me this year so far, was our show in French Lick, Indiana. We stayed at the west Baden Hotel and Spa. It was built in 1902, I think and the likes of Al Capone and FDR stayed there. it is built around a beautiful dome and has recently been renovated to the tune of around $100,000,000. It is truly beautiful and I plan on going back there for a few days of R&R at some point. It also the home to natural hot Springs. Beautiful place.

I had a chance to see a few of the Oscar nominated movies this year. I thought "There Will Be Blood" was fantastic and once again Daniel Day-Lewis's performance was spectacular and truly deserved the Oscar he received. I thought "No Country for Old Men" was great too, fine performances and a great story. "Juno" was another movie that touched me and finally "La Vien En Rose" which is a biographical story of one of my all time favorite singers, Edith Piaf, was amazing.

I recently had dinner with out manager and his wife at a great restaurant in Santa Monica, California called "The Hidden Restaurant" a very unique place. There are four seperate chefs there and the menu includes Meditteranean, Vietnamese, Japanese food and Tapas. The decor is great, the food and service the same and for such a busy place in Los Angeles and you can actually have a conversation and be heard. For those of you in Los Angeles, I would highly recommend it!

Other than that my life is the same, I love being on the road and enjoy the quiet times at home. I hope you come and see us as often as you can this year. We have a great show!

Please be safe, stay healthy and know that we are looking forward to seeing you

Lots of Love

Russell

I believe I may have become a singer because of my Dad singing with a ‘Big Band’ in the forties. And on the other hand, I was lucky to get into Jesus Christ Superstar and meet Graham.

I remember singing with the cast for the first time and realizing at that moment that I had to sing for the rest of my life.

Being able to sing Graham’s songs gives me an unbelievable feeling of satisfaction, simply because they are all that good.

It really is a very special thing when a singer and a song connect. I hope that is obvious every time you hear an Air Supply song!

I once read somewhere -

“As Singing is to my soul -

what breathing is to my life -

to stop I dare not”
