What's happening with Air Supply

Hello everyone,

A happy and healthy holiday season to everyone around the world as 2009 draws to a close. We have just arrived back from Australia and Hong Kong where we sold out every show and received the best reviews of our career. The shows in Australia were especially important to us as we began there so long ago and we are very proud to be an Australian act.

We performed at the festival Theater in Adelaide where we began in Superstar over 35 yrs ago. It was a proud moment for us as we stepped onto the stage under our own steam to a standing ovation! To play in Russell's home town of Melbourne was a deep moment for him in many ways. Also, to play with the world famous Melbourne Symphony has been a goal of ours that we have now fulfilled. After the show we had a terrific reunion with both our families at Russell's sister's home where we all had fish and chips out of paper and sampled some fine Australian wine!

We ended this tour in Hong Kong, our second sold out show there this year, and once again we were honoured to receive flowers from Jackie Chan backstage, he never fails!

It has been such a busy year for us this year, playing in all parts of the world, thank you to everyone that made our journeys and the shows such a special occasion for us. It's always you, the audience that fills our hearts with joy as we step onstage every night! In some ways it's sad seeing another year go by that will never come back, but we have the memories that will last forever and we hope you do too!

And so 2010 is on our doorstep? Remember when Arthur C. Clarkes 2010 book and movie seemed so far into the future? Well the future is here, we are that future!

Yes, it is our 35th anniversary in 2010 as you know, and for those of you that want to spend a week with us celebrating on the high seas, save the week of October 31st to November 7th!! A unique week of fun, live shows, and special events will be announced in January, and it will be just for you and us and some other special guests that you will love to see! All the details will be on this page at the next posting in January, save the week everyone!!!

The new album is being mastered as we speak, and a preview of the first single will be on the site too in early January for you to listen to. You will hear it first as we promised! Before the album ships, you will also be able to get it first, before anyone!

The new website had a last minute snafu and we were unable to go live as we said, but it will be live in early January, to kick off the new year. The new line of merchandise will be available at the 2010 shows too, and will feature our 35 yr. Anniversary also.

We do have 3 new players in the band as of a few weeks ago. On keyboards we have Amir Efrat who played with us 2 years ago briefly, also CJ Burton is back on drums, and a new face, Christian Nesmith is on lead guitar. A lot is happening for next year, we hope you are able to come and enjoy it with us at the shows. Hi everyone, We are finally back from Asia and the Middle East, and the shows were an amazing success, where we were in the middle of typhoons, earthquakes, and major floods as we weaved our way around the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Qatar.

Several shows were threatened to be cancelled because of the typhoons that were all around us but none were. While in Manila the rain was torrential and several times our transport was washed down the streets in 3 feet of water but we all survived. The proceeds from the sold out show at Aranetta Coliseum were donated to the flood victims too, as was the concert in Qatar which was our first in that country. Even in Vietnam where the rain was also coming down every moment, the people came out to see us in droves, fortunately both shows were inside.

The show in Qatar was a classic one. We didn't know if anyone would be present as we have never played there before. About one hour before the show only a few hundred people were in the stands but by the time the lights went down the capacity crowd of 10,000 were all there, in full voice.

What a sight it was as the desert sun was setting to our left and lighting the arena in a beautiful orange glow, right out of Laurence of Arabia! Russell sang the new song “Until” for the first time at this show and the crowd went wild! The song is certainly going to be an Air Supply classic from this moment on and of course it is on the new album!

Other new songs in the show now are “Me Like You” and of course “Dance With Me.” I'm sure they are already on U-tube looking at the hundreds of cameras at every show!

Now to the new album, at the last minute we decided to include two new songs that came along quite suddenly and so the album won’t be out until very early in the new year. It is finished and mixed now, but it would be a mistake to release it now and get lost in all the Xmas albums that swamp the market at that time of year. The album will be available everywhere this time which will be a nice change for us, thanks to our record company Oddson in Las Vegas.

It seems to be the right time for us to release a brand new album now after so long but believe me it will be worth the wait. You will love all 14 of the brand new songs! Our new site is also ready to go live and will be up in a few weeks to reflect Mumbo Jumbo. We are all ready for a few days break before we head to Chile, Brazil, and Australia again in December. On this last trip we went completely around the world in 3 weeks, a lot of travel, but it is worth every moment to us to bring our message and our sound to all of you. Yes we get tired, and often get 2 or 3 hours sleep but when the intro to the show starts its always full on, there is no other choice!

Thank you for being patient with us while waiting for the new album, I have no doubt that like us you will love it to death! Be safe and happy everyone as we approach the holiday time and remember at any given moment we are playing somewhere, hopefully near you.
